SAHARSA, May 14 -- Over 600 students of a government school in Saharsa have refused to eat the mid-day meal served by the NGO Bharat Ratna Dr B R Ambedkar Dalit Utthan Avom Shiksha Samiti following an incident on May 7 when around 300 children had fallen sick because of food being contaminated by a dead snake. The May 7 incident at the Government Middle School Baluaha under Mahishi block had raised a lot of hue and cry, forcing the authorities to order an investigation. The parents and guardians of the school have vehemently protested the food supplied by the NGO declaring it totally unfit, unhygienic and unpalatable. They have demanded that the MDM should be cooked in the school. "We can't allow our children to die," agitating locals at the gate of Government Middle School Baluaha said while pressing their two key demands. "The MDM should either be cooked in the school under proper norms, or the money should be directly credited to the bank accounts of the children," they said....
