PATNA, July 19 -- The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) on Saturday postponed the 72nd Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination 2026. The exam for 1,186 posts in various state services was scheduled for July 26. The commission has cited unavoidable reasons behind the postponement of the examination and it has neither specified when will the rescheduled examination will be held. Candidates have been advised to wait for a fresh notification regarding the revised examination schedule. The commission has appealed to the candidates to ignore any kind of rumours and rely only on the official website of the BPSC and the notice issued by the commission for all official information related to the examination. Around 500,000 aspirants from throughout the state, and possibly even from outside, had filed to appear for the exam. The postponement has reportedly worried the students who have been preparing for the examination. However, some feel that it would give them extra time for preparation.
