PATNA, July 27 -- The special task force of Bihar police (STF) on Sunday arrested two bank robbers, including one carrying a reward of Rs.20,000 on his head, from Gaya in connection with a bank robbery case in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh. The STF recovered 750 gm of looted gold ornaments, four cell phones, two trucks and a motorcycle from them. Those arrested have been identified as Sunil Paswan and Chanchal Bharti Paswan, both residents of Gurua police station area in Gaya. On September 1, last year, the STF had arrested two robbers Rajesh Das alias Akash Das and Indrajit Das alias Sagar, both residents of Gaya, and recovered looted gold ornaments. Director General (Operations) Kundan Krishnan said, "On August 11, 2025, unidentified armed criminals had looted 14.873 kilograms of gold jewellery, along with cash worth Rs.5 lakh, from the Khitola branch of ESAF Small Finance Bank in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh. A special team was formed under the Bank and Jewellery cell of the Bihar STF, led by a DSP rank official. The team, in coordination with the Jabalpur police, gathered intelligence and identified those involved. With assistance from the special operations group (SOG), district intelligence unit and other units, targeted raids were carried out in Gaya, leading to the arrests of the two wanted accused." He added, "Rajesh Das is a history-sheeter and involved in over 15 robbery and bank loot cases registered with Gaya, Sasaram, Jamui, Rohtas, Purulia (West Bengal), Giridih in Jharkhand and Raigarh in Chhatisgarh. He was released from Raigarh jail on June 18, 2025."...
