PATNA, March 8 -- The Bihar Police on Saturday dismissed an absconding Sub-inspector of Police (SI) Sumanji Jha, adopting a policy of "zero tolerance" towards corruption. With this order effective from March 7, the department has given a clear message that there is no place for officials in "khaki" indulged in corruption. Tirhut range DIG Chandan Kushwaha said, "Sumanji Jha, has recently posted with Lalganj police station of Vaishali, facing corruption charges, has been dismissed from service after departmental proceeding. Investigation and departmental proceedings against the SI had been in progress since September 2014 for accepting bribe of Rs.11,000 when he was posted with Siwaipatti police station in Muzaffarpur and distorting image of police department. All factual evidence was collected and his clarifications were sought after which the SI was dismissed from service on March 7." SDPO (East-2) Manoj Kumar Singh was appointed as the proceeding officer in the bribery case.
