RANCHI, Feb. 25 -- In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the struggle of a small-scale entrepreneur to protect his livelihood has ended in an unimaginable tragedy. Sanjay Sahu (41), who was being airlifted to Delhi for specialised treatment after sustaining severe burn injuries, lost his life when the air ambulance crashed, leaving a family shattered and a community in mourning. In a cruel twist of fate, his wife, Archana Devi, who had refused to leave his side and was accompanying him as a medical attendant, also lost her life in the accident. The tragedy began on February 16 at Sarbarwa, where Sanjay Sahu operated a small line hotel. A sudden short circuit ignited a fire that threatened to consume everything he had built. In a desperate bid to save essential materials and equipment from the flames, Sanjay braved the fire, sustaining life-threatening burn injuries in the process. He was initially rushed to Dev Kamal Hospital in Ranchi. However, as his condition continued to deteriorate, his family grew desperate to provide him with the best possible care, eventually deciding to shift him to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi. The Sahu family, coming from a modest background, faced an uphill battle to afford the exorbitant cost of an air ambulance. In a touching display of solidarity, the people of Chandwa and Sarbarwa stepped in. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Dr. Vikash Kumar Gupta-who had resided in Chandwa for over a year and shared a deep bond with the local community-became a pillar of support. He utilized his connections and expertise to facilitate the air ambulance arrangements. To cover the costs, family members, close friends, and well-wishers pooled their savings, hoping their collective contribution would buy Sanjay a second lease on life. Sanjay Sahu leaves behind a young family now facing an uncertain future. He is survived by his two sons, Subham Kumar, who is currently appearing for his CBSE Class X examinations as a regular student of Green Field Academy, and Shivam Kumar, a Class V student at the same school. The weight of the tragedy was most visible during the final rites performed by his elder brother, Vijay Kumar Sahu. Amidst a sea of mourners, Vijay struggled to reconcile the brave man his brother was with the charred remains returned by the crash. Expressing his profound grief, Vijay Kumar Sahu said, "I had never thought such a fate would befall my brother. He was fighting to save his work, and we were fighting to save his life. To lose him this way, while we were trying to bring him hope, is a pain I cannot describe." As Sanjay's three brothers and his children come to terms with the loss, the Satbarwa community remains in shock. What began as a brave effort to save a small business has ended in a loss that no amount of material wealth can ever replace....
