4 hospitalised after eating poisonous mushrooms
Rudrapur, Aug. 10 -- Four members of a family have been admitted to Susheela Tiwari Hospital (STH) in Haldwani after eating mushrooms, officials said. The family is originally from Nepal and currently residing in Lamgara, Almora district, they added.
"We are making villagers aware of the dangers of poisonous mushrooms and vegetables found in forests, but they hardly follow our advice. Two women from our district have died due to consuming such vegetables," said SS Nabiyal, chief medical officer, Pithoragarh.
Dr Arun Joshi, principal of Government Medical College, Haldwani, said the family's condition was stable. "Poisonous mushrooms grow in forests and agricultural fields. People collect and cook them as vegetables, but it is extremely difficult to identify which ones are poisonous without expert knowledge or proper testing," added Dr Joshi....
