DHANBAD, July 11 -- A special MP-MLA court in Dhanbad on Friday convicted 30 accused, including former Jharkhand minister and ex-MLA Mannan Mallik, in the 2011 Matkuria firing case after a legal battle that lasted more than 15 years. Special Judge Durgesh Chandra Awasthi sentenced each of the convicts to three years' imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.10,000. However, the court granted all the convicts provisional bail for 30 days to enable them to file appeals against the judgment. Two accused, Vinod Singh alias Pappu Singh and Ajay Kumar Raut, did not appear before the court despite directionst. The court cancelled their bail bonds and issued arrest warrants against them.
