PURNEA, Aug. 10 -- Three siblings drowned to death while trying to catch fish in a deep pit near their home at Alamnagar Ward-7 of Kullakhas panchayat under Kasba police station, about 15-km from district headquarters in Purnea on Sunday, according to circle officer Nishant Kumar. Locals said that the pit was left exposed due to illegal soil mining and it gets heavily flooded in the rains. The victims have been identified as Sairajul (8), Mofijul (12) and Tafijul (19). Mohammad Alamgir, a daily wager, lost three of his eight sons in the incident. According to their sibling, who witnessed the incident, Sairajul waded into deep waters and started drowning and two others drowned trying to save him. By the time their family members reached the spot to rescue them, all three had drowned. Later, they were taken to the Kasba primary health centre (PHC) where doctors declared them dead....
