2 from Uzbekistan held while crossing Indo-Nepal border
BETTIAH, June 27 -- The 47th Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) arrested two Uzbekistan nationals attempting to cross into Nepal from Indian territory at Raxaul, officers said on Friday.
According to the officials, the two women were arrested at Bharat Nepal Maitripul in Raxaul town after SSB's Border Intelligence Team (BIT) intercepted the duo during a routine check and examined their identity documents on Thursday evening.
"They didn't not have any valid documents with them," said Kisan Paswan, station house officer (SHO), Haraiya, who claimed the custody of the foreign nationals after being handed over by SSB.
"During preliminary investigation, it came to fore that the two women stayed in India for 15 days. They have been sent to jail," he added.
The arrested women have been identified as 32-year-old Makhfuza Dekhonova, daughter of Makhmadjon, a resident of Fergana district, Fergana (Uzbekistan) and 35-year-old Maftuna Kilicheva, daughter of Baxodirovna, a resident of Jizzakhabad, Payari district, Samarkand region (Uzbekistan).
Police have booked them under relevant sections of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025....
