2 Buxar men get 20 years for gangrape
BUXARA, Sept. 10 -- Local court in Buxar has sentenced two men to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment each for gang raping a woman and subsequently circulating her photographs on social media, officials said on Wednesday. First district and additional sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, Buxar, Uday Pratap Singh, convicted Deepak Ram and Kanhaiya Gond under Section 376(D) of the Indian Penal Code and sentenced each of them to 20 years' rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 50,000.
The court directed that the fine imposed under Section 376(D) be paid to the victim as compensation in accordance with law. It also ordered further imprisonment in case of non-payment of the fine.
According to the prosecution, the victim, a 40-year-old resident of Paterwa village under the Buxar police station, had been unwell for several days. On the evening of September 14, 2023, she visited the home of her co-villager, Deepak Ram, seeking traditional treatment, where his relative, Kanhaiya Gond, was also present.
The prosecution alleged that during the course of treatment, Deepak administered some substance to the woman following which she became unconscious. Both accused persons allegedly raped her....
