PATNA, Aug. 15 -- On the eve of Independence Day, 19 personnel of the Bihar Police received police medals in recognition of gallantry, distinguished, and meritorious services. One police inspector was awarded the Medal for Gallantry (GM), three officers-including the Muzaffarpur rail SP, IG (special branch) and IG SSB-were awarded the President's Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) and fifteen officers received the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM). The GM awardee is Inspector Mohammad Afsar Hussain. The officers who received PSMs are Additional Director General Malothu Ramulu Naik (currently on central deputation as IG SSB), IG (special branch) Sanjay Kumar and Muzaffarpur rail SP Bina Kumari. The 15 police personnel who received the MSM include DIG Rakesh Kumar Sinha, SP Imtiyaz Ahmad, Inspector Irshad Alam, ASI Mukesh Kumar Singh, ASI Lav Kush Kumar, ASI Amitabh Giri, ASI Anand Prakash, SI Rajesh Kumar Singh, SI Santosh Chhetri, Havildar Santosh Alley Magar, Havildar Rupesh Thapa, Havildar Shambhu Nath Singh, Constable Tapan Gurung, Constable Chatra Bahadur Thapa and Constable Santosh Kumar Thakuri. According to the PHQ, over three dozen police officers were recommended for the awards and a panel of officers selected the recipients after evaluating their good performance and outstanding track records.
