BETTIAH, Sept. 26 -- A 15-year--old girl was swept away, while 13 others swam to safety after a boat carrying them capsized in one of the tributaries of the swollen Bagamati river in Muzaffarpur district on Friday, police said. Confirming this, Aurai's station house officer (SHO) Brajesh Kumar Yadav said the incident occurred when 14 people, all of them the resident of Dharampur village in Maheshwara panchayat of Aurai block, were on their way to collect fooder for their livestocks from a place across the stream around 9am on Friday. "While we were half way through our journey when the boat was jolted badly due to the high current in water and overturned," the station house officer quoted the survivors as saying. Out of 14, the 13 villagers managed to swim to the safety, while a minor girl, identified as Rani Kumari, daughter of Horil Paswan was swept away, he added. When contacted, Aurai's circle officer (CO) Dhiraj Kumar said the girl could not be traced yet. "The SDRF team has been pressed into a rescue operation." the CO said....
