1 dead, 2 missing after boat capsizes in Kosi in Darbhanga
DARBHANGA, June 11 -- A woman died while two others went missing after a country boat carrying 10 people capsized in Kosi river under Kiratpur block of Bihar's Darbhanga district in the early hours of Wednesday, police said.
According to police, the occupants, six women and four girls from Kuboul and Tarbara villages, were crossing the river to reach agricultural fields for harvesting crops when the boat lost balance in the strong river currents and overturned.
Seven persons swam to safety and were rescued by locals. They were shifted to a PHC and discharged after treatment.
Meanwhile, police fished out the body of Kanchan Devi and launched an operation to trace Amira Devi and 11-year-old Neha Kumari.
Kiratpur circle officer (CO) Prashant Kumar said, "All ten passengers were heading for agricultural work when the mishap took place. Local divers and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have been pressed into service to locate the missing persons."...
