DARBHANGA, Oct. 19 -- The Plurals Party has written to the district election officer-cum-district magistrate (DEO-cum-DM), Darbhanga, seeking investigation and immediate action against what it described as "apparent misinformation" in the nomination papers of Umesh Sahani, a candidate from the Darbhanga (83) assembly constituency. Sahani has been fielded on VIP symbol as Grand Alliance (GA) candidate. In a letter dated October 17, 2025, addressed to the DEO, the party's general secretary Anupam Kumar Suman alleged that Sahani filed two sets of nomination affidavits (Form-26) on the same day, both containing "false and misleading information" about his political affiliation. The documents, uploaded on the Election Commission of India's website at 4:58 pm, reportedly mention the candidate's party as "Vikashsheel Inshan Party," which, the Plurals Party claims, does not exist in official records. According to the complaint, the only similar registered entity with the Election Commission is "Vikassheel Insaan Party," headed by Mukesh Sahani. "It is strange that the ECI website itself has uploaded the said affidavits against the political party named Vikassheel Insaan Party, while the candidate has declared himself to be from another, non-existent party," the letter stated. Calling the error "repetitive and deliberate," the party argued that such misinformation cannot be dismissed as a typographical mistake since the incorrect party name appears multiple times across the affidavit sets, including on the attached request forms. The letter further contended that if Form-A and Form-B were issued by "Vikassheel Insaan Party" in the name of candidate then it was clear discrepancy and wrongful information on the record in the sworn affidavit. Terming the matter as one that "substantially affects" its electoral interests, the Plurals Party has urged the Election Officer to reject Umesh Sahani's nomination for furnishing false information in sworn affidavits. Copies of the letter have also been sent to the Chief Electoral Officer, Bihar. The Plurals Party president Pushpam Priya Choudhary is contesting assembly polls from Darbhanga seat. "If the party whose candidate has written its name in six different places is itself not found in the records, then how can that person be considered a candidate of the party mentioned in Form A & B?", Choudhary said....
