PATNA, Sept. 1 -- Police in Muzaffarpur district have filed 28 FIRs in connection with the demolition of walls and houses of around 50 people in the Ahiyapur police station area with the alleged intention of land grab. Ten of these FIRs mention the role of LJP(Ram Vilas) MLA from Belsand, Amit Kumar Ranu, officers said on Monday. All FIRs have been filed between August 20 to August 29. Police said that these FIRs were registered with the Ahiyapur and Brahmpura police stations based on the statements of victims whose houses and boundary walls were demolished by goons and the MLA's brother Sonu Singh, who is named in 25 FIRs. Police raided the MLA's houses in Sitamarhi and Muzaffarpur on August 22 in this connection. The raids followed the arrests of two suspects later identified as Chhotu Kumar alias Chhotu Yadav and Nanhe Singh alias Naveen. Police recovered an automatic pistol, two magazines, nine live cartridges and three cell phones. Muzaffarpur SSP Kantesh Kumar Mishra told HT that during the search of the MLA's residence in the Ahiyapur police station area, the MLA and his associates obstructed personnel from performing their official duty, abused them and tried to manhandle them. For this misbehaviour, an FIR was registered with the Ahiyapur police station while another was registered based on one policeman's statement with the Kachchi-Pakki police station. In another case revealing the MLA's alleged connection with land grab, a woman named Asha Devi has registered an FIR against the MLA, his brother and three associates with the Brahmpura police station. In her complaint, she accused that the sale deed of her husband's land in Kolhua Paigambarpur was fraudulently prepared and shows that Rs.35 lakh were paid, but they did not receive any amount to date. "The MLA's brother Sonu Kumar alias Abhinav broke six rooms of my house in Bairia and occupied the land. The three decimals of my land were fraudulently transferred to the name of MLA's mother Sudha Devi," said Asha, adding that seven decimals of her land, valued at Rs.35 lakh in 2022, was fraudulently registered after she received only Rs.4 lakh, with the remaining amount promised to be paid later. Another alleged victim Vijay Kumar, a retired under secretary in the Department of Science and Technology, said in his FIR that his land in Shahbazpur Salem village was targeted for illegal takeover through forged documents and a fake sale deed. The police, who are thoroughly probing the case, said they would try to obtain a warrant to arrest the MLA after the investigation. His brother has been absconding and several raids have been conducted throughout the state to apprehend him. The MLA, on the other hand, denied the charges against him. "I will take legal recourse once the police investigation is complete," the MLA told HT on Monday....
