5-yr-old dies after iron rod falls on her; 4 held
New Delhi, Sept. 30 -- A five-year-old girl died of injuries on Monday, a day after an iron rod from an under-construction building fell and pierced her head in east Delhi's Shahdara. Police said the girl, who was in the ICU at GTB Hospital, succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Owner of the under-construction building, Nathu Singh, 68, and three workers were arrested for negligence causing death, police said.
Police were alerted at 11am on Sunday that the girl, Aanshi Kumar, was returning home from Durga Puja pandal with her father Ritesh Kumar in Jagatpuri Extension. DCP (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam said, "An iron rod had fallen on girl. It was found that a building was under construction and an iron rod was used to build a platform on the terrace. The rod fell from the building and hit the girl on head and injured her eye." The girl's uncle, Vinod Kumar said, "She was the youngest ...They left home around 9am. They were walking beside the building when the rod fell and punctured her eye. What was her fault?
