Woman found using mobile, earphones in police exam
MUMBAI, April 2 -- In a scene right out of the 2003 Bollywood hit Munnabhai MBBS, a 28-year-old woman appearing for a police constable recruitment examination was found cheating with a mobile phone hidden in her clothes and a small Bluetooth device plugged into her ears.
The woman, Nayana Jadhav, was attempting to get the answers dictated to her on a call, police said. The electronic devices on her were discovered during a check after examiners became suspicious when she asked to use the washroom twice after the exam started.
A case has been registered against Jadhav, a resident of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, at the Matunga police station, officers said. She has been booked under various sections of the Maharashtra Competitive Examination Act, 2024.
The alleged incident occurred during the written examination for Government Railway Police (GRP) constable recruitment on Sunday at the Raje Shivaji School in Dadar. The examiners, GRP constables Sushma Andhari and Manisha Awhad, had asked the candidates to visit the washroom before the exam starts. However, Jadhav asked for permission to visit the washroom twice after that, officers said.
"The second time was when the exam papers were getting distributed, which raised doubts in the mind of the examiners. After they checked her, they found a mobile phone hidden in her clothes and a small Bluetooth device in her ears, which fell while checking," said a police officer from the Matunga police station.
The officer added that the police had busted a similar racket in the past in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, wherein people were trained to dictate answers to candidates. "They get a copy of the question paper immediately and have the answers ready," the officer said....
