Vijay targets Stalin over TN stampede, DMK govt hits back
Chennai, Oct. 1 -- Breaking his silence through a video message three days after a stampede at his political rally caused 41 deaths, actor and politician Vijay of the TVK hinted at a conspiracy and targeted Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin even as he glossed over his own immediate exit from the venue and silence for three days.
"We went to at least five districts for our campaign, and no such incident took place. How is it that this incident happened only in Karur? The public knows the truth," Vijay said. Karur is a stronghold of senior DMK leader Senthil Balaji.
Vijay also criticised Stalin over the arrest of his party leaders, saying: "CM sir, if you want revenge, you touch me. Don't touch my leaders."
Hours after the clip was released, the Tamil Nadu government said what happened in Karur was not isolated as several people had been hospitalised in previous rallies led by the TVK leader. It also released video clippings showing "violation of norms" at the Karur rally. P8...
