Top leaders in Bengal as first phase nears
India, April 15 -- With less than 10 days left for the crucial two-phase assembly elections, senior leaders from the BJP, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the TMC and the Congress held public rallies across West Bengal. PM Modi claimed there is an "atmosphere of fear" in the state, adding that incidents of murder, rape, rioting and political violence have reached their peak under the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government. Modi made the remarks while interacting with BJP workers. Union home minister Amit Shah addressed the public in Dakshin Dinajpur district. TMC chief Mamata Banerjee addressed public rallies at Pingla in Paschim Medinipur, Tamluk in Purba Medinipur and Domjur in Howrah, and said that she has not seen a "dirty party" like the BJP.
