CHE, April 22 -- The owner of the private firecrackers manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar district, in which 25 people lost their lives, has surrendered while four of his accomplices have been arrested, police said on Tuesday. Four special teams were formed to trace V Muthu Manickam, the owner of the Vanaja Fireworks, after an explosion at the facility in Kattanarpatti village in Virudhunagar on April 19. According to a senior district police officer, a case has been filed at the Vachakarapatti Police Station over the incident and investigation is underway. "Four people have been arrested and Manickam surrendered to Judicial Magistrate," Virudhunagar superintendent of police N Shreenatha said. "All the four -- S Muthuraj, 42, T Vairamuthu 29, C Vetrivel, 28, MK Muthu Krishna Kumar 33 -- were later released on bail," he added. According to government officials, though the firm had license to operate, some violations were recorded like accommodating 20 persons instead of four persons in a room while engaging in the manufacturing of the firecrackers. The incident was believed to have originated in the front porch, The impact of the blast was so severe that at least three rooms were reduced to rubble, and several adjacent structures were completely levelled.htc...
