NAVI MUMBAI, March 4 -- Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Raigad district on Sunday, police said. In the most recent case, a 31-year-old pedestrian was killed in an alleged hit-and-run on Honnav Atkaranay Road in Khopoli on Sunday evening. The victim, Ramesh Subhedar, was allegedly knocked down by a speeding unidentified vehicle around 7.45pm. The driver fled the scene without offering assistance. Police have registered a case and are attempting to trace the vehicle. In another incident the same morning, a 55-year-old motorcyclist, Chandrakant Ramdas Ainkar, died after his bike allegedly plunged off a bridge on the Badlapur-Karjat Road near Mohachiwadi. Police said he allegedly lost control of the motorcycle, which struck the middle portion of the bridge and fell into a drain below. Separately, a 38-year-old Belapur resident, Laxmikant Devidas Bhusare, was killed in a suspected hit-and-run on the old Mumbai-Pune Highway near Bhokarpada on February 2.
