Threats issued to actor Ranveer Singh
India, Oct. 20 -- What happened: On February 10, 2026, actor Ranveer Singh's social media manager received two-three threat calls from an unknown international number beginning with +340. The calls were followed by three voice messages demanding Rs 20 crore from the actor. The caller identified himself as Harry Boxer. On February 13, Boxer also allegedly issued a three-minute audio clip threatening producer-director Rohit Shetty and Singh with "dire consequences" and asked them to "fall in line". In the voice note, the caller also threatened Singh and said that he would "teach him a lesson" for not paying up as demanded.
Who was behind it: The message, according to police sources, was traced back to boxer-turned-gangster Hari Chand Jaat alias Harry Boxer. The threats were issued by Boxer on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, according to the Mumbai police's crime branch. Boxer has been carrying out the gang's operations from Canada since 2022.
Alleged motive: The threat to Singh came within days of the firing outside director Rohit Shetty's house. The police said that extortion and intimidation seemed to be the motive behind the attack.
Police action: On February 17, police registered an FIR against Boxer for making an extortion demand of Rs 20 crore. It was filed by the Mumbai's police crime branch's south region cyber cell based on a complaint filed by Singh's social media manager Vijay Subramanian. A look-out circular was also issued against Boxer. Security was beefed up at the actor's house in Prabhadevi, with Mumbai police and private armed security personnel standing guard.
