Mumbai, July 22 -- Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is also the state's home minister, said that the Bombay High Court verdict is shocking. "The Bombay HC verdict in the bomb blast case is shocking, especially in the backdrop of the earlier verdict given by the lower court. I have not yet read the order, but have spoken to the counsels in this court. I have asked them to move the Supreme Court at the earliest," he said. Maharashtra additional chief secretary (home) Iqbal Chahal said they had studied the judgement and asked Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Naval Bajaj to send a proposal so that the state could move the Supreme Court at the earliest. The probe into the bomb blast case was mostly conducted during the Congress-NCP regime which was in power till 2014. Late R R Patil was home minister when the terror attack took place and when the probe began. BJP Rajya Sabha MP and senior counsel Ujjwal Nikam who was the public prosecutor in 26/11 terror attack case, called the acquittal "serious". "It is serious that all the accused were acquitted. Prima facie it seems that police failed to produce evidence against them. What exactly went wrong needs to be found out and the government needs to challenge it in upper court," said Nikam....
