State government tightens scrutiny in sports quota
MUMBAI, Sept. 9 -- To curb the use of fake sports certificates to secure government jobs under the sports quota, the Maharashtra government will use an automated digital system to verify sports credentials.
Under the new system, the results of sports competitions will have to be uploaded with a digital signature within seven days of the event. Blockchain technology will ensure permanent storage of the data and prevent tampering, while automated cryptographic hashing will enable immediate verification of the authenticity of certificates.
The revised policy also makes it mandatory for sportspersons seeking reservation to have their sports certificates verified within three months. The decision was taken in the state cabinet meeting on Tuesday....
