India, Sept. 23 -- The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is carrying out operational and financial scrutiny of SpiceJet, civil aviation minister Ram Mohan Naidu said on Tuesday even as the airline grapples with flight cancellations and delays. "The immediate activity in the ministry regarding SpiceJet is that we have operational and, to a certain extent, financial scrutiny also being done from the ministry through the DGCA because we don't want any lapse in safety," Naidu said. As per the latest DGCA monthly data, SpiceJet's domestic market share dropped to 1.6% in July from 1.9% in June. Naidu said the ministry was continuously engaging with the airline.
