Regret having to back such a govt: Paswan takes on ally Nitish
PATNA, July 27 -- Union minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan on Saturday expressed "regret" over having to support the chief minister Nitish Kumar-led government in Bihar as he again targeted the administration over the "deteriorating" law and order situation in the state
Both LJP (RV) and Kumar's Janata Dal (United) are part of the BJP-led NDA.
Referring to the alleged gang-rape of a woman inside an ambulance in Gaya Ji, the Hajipur MP said: "The accused may have been caught, but the fact remains that the administration is unable to prevent such crimes. It appears that the police have surrendered before criminals. I regret having to support a government which is not able to stop such crimes."
Earlier in the month, Paswan voiced concern over the "rise" in crimes in Bihar and announced that he will contest the upcoming state polls.
His latest comments triggered a sharp reaction from the JD(U), with party spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad saying: "Those concerned about law and order in the state would do well to first not induct people with criminal antecedents in their party." P6...
