Mumbai, Oct. 6 -- A Ro-Ro ferry between Saphale and Virar carrying 350 passengers and 75 vehicles got stuck mid-sea for nearly 40 minutes on Sunday evening due to a technical failure triggered primarily by overloading, officials said. Due to the excess weight, the hydraulic ramp serving the roll on-roll off ferry snapped, rendering the vessel immobile, they said. While the ferry staff claimed that there were 350 passengers on the ferry, an official from Maharashtra Maritime Board said there were just 70 people on board, against its capacity of 100 passengers.
