Maha ATS searches 3 suspects' homes over alleged terror links
MUMBAI, March 4 -- The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Monday night conducted searches at the residences of three suspects in Kurla, Govandi and Shivaji Nagar on Monday night after social media monitoring indicated they were allegedly in contact with members of banned terror outfits abroad.
ATS officials said they tracked the three suspects after online surveillance indicated they were in touch with overseas members of proscribed organisations. Teams searched their residences and seized electronic devices for forensic examination. "We have seized various electronic devices from the accused's residences and are analysing the content, looking for suspicious activities," an ATS officer said, adding that further action would depend on the findings.
Officials said the searches were conducted amid tight police security, considering the ongoing holy month of Ramadan to avoid any law and order issues.
Separately, police said they are on heightened alert following recent developments concerning the death of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Hosseini Khamenei, amid inputs that some Shia groups, may organize protest marches.
Security has been stepped up at sensitive locations, including the US Consulate in Mumbai, officials said....
