Isro staff raise issue of privatisation again
India, Oct. 9 -- The Joint Action Council of the nine employee associations of the Department of Space (DOS) and Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) has again written to the space agency chairman V Narayanan, seeking a meeting to discuss various issues including the proposed transfer of Isro's manufacturing and operational functions to private entities. The letter, dated October 7, comes a little over a month after the association sought on September 4 clarification on the matter. "The core questions regarding the future mandated role of Isro, the policy on privatisation/transfer of manufacturing and operational functions, technology transfer, staffing and recruitment and employee safeguards remain substantially unanswered," the letter read.
