MUMBAI, Feb. 9 -- The Bombay High Court on Thursday sought a status report from the Maharashtra government on whether all jails and police stations in the state are fully integrated through a common digital management system to improve monitoring and reduce delays in criminal trials. A division bench of chief justice Shree Chandrashekhar and justice N.J. Jamadar was hearing a suo motu public interest litigation concerning pending criminal cases against sitting and former members of parliament (MPs) and members of the legislative assembly (MLAs). The state government informed the court that jails and police stations across Maharashtra are already integrated under a common system containing data on accused persons.
