MUMBAI, Sept. 22 -- The Bombay High Court on Monday took suo motu cognisance of noise pollution caused by religious processions across Maharashtra, observing that existing laws were not being implemented effectively. The court clarified that while there could be no objection to festivals or processions, they must be conducted in a manner that respects the rights of citizens. The bench also questioned the permissions granted for firecrackers.
