Guv nominates Azharuddin, Kodandaram as MLCs in T'gana
Hyderabad, April 27 -- Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Sunday nominated former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin and retired professor M Kodandaram as members of legislative council (MLCs) under the governor's quota, according to a government order.
The governor's approval comes after a prolonged delay, as Azharuddin, who was sworn in as minister for minority welfare on October 31 last year, is required to be elected to the legislature within six months, by April 30.
Kodandaram, who played a key role in the Telangana agitation as chairman of the Joint Action Committee of political parties, was nominated as an MLC in 2024.
However, the matter has been pending in courts after Sravan Dasoju and Kurra Satyanarayana, who were nominated during the BRS regime, challenged their rejection by then-Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan.PTI...
