Former mayor and Shiv Sena (UBT) corporator joins BJP
MUMBAI, Jan. 5 -- Former Mumbai mayor and Shiv Sena (UBT) corporator Dr Shubha Raul joined the BJP on Sunday in the presence of chief minister Devendra Fadnavis in a campaign rally in Kandivali.
Raul was denied a ticket by the Sena (UBT) in the BMC polls. Raul, a three-time corporator, was a Shiv Sena mayor from 2007-2009. She had joined the MNS before the assembly polls in 2014 and returned to the Sena after losing.
Raul said that she joined the BJP as she wants to work for Mumbai and Maharashtra and also said that she did not want a ticket to contest this time. "I have no complaints about Shiv Sena (UBT). I wanted to work in the fields of environment and health. I am 60 years old and can't reopen my clinic at this age. I want to work for Mumbai, Maharashtra and India and BJP is a good platform,'' she said.
Earlier on Sunday, Raul met BJP minister Ashish Shelar and BJP MLC Ashish Shelar.
