Flyers dupe Surat bizman of Rs.1.95 cr, 128k UAE dirhams
MUMBAI, Sept. 12 -- A 67-year-old garment businessman from Surat has alleged that two men gained his trust and stole 1.5 kg of gold, Rs.1.95 crore in cash and 128,000 UAE dirhams, worth approximately Rs.33.35 lakh, after allegedly walking away with his bag at Mumbai airport following a Dubai-Mumbai flight. The Sahar police have booked the two men.
According to the FIR, the complainant, Abdul Rajjak Umarbhai Sodagar, had been operating a garment business in Surat, which had remained shut for four months. He was subsequently looking for a new business opportunity.

On August 15, while returning on Emirates flight EK508, Asif allegedly told him that his acquaintance, Niyas Mohammad Katumadthil, was on the same flight and would assist him. After being introduced over the phone, Sodagar said he trusted Niyas.
After landing in Mumbai, Niyas allegedly offered to carry Sodagar's black bag containing the valuables. When Sodagar proceeded to declare the gold after immigration, Niyas allegedly walked away from the declaration area with the bag. Sodagar said his age and health prevented him from following quickly.
