India, Aug. 14 -- Former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Nirmal Ghosh was arrested from Odisha on Thursday over the alleged hasty cremation of the junior doctor who was raped and murdered at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in 2024, police said. He will be produced before a court in Kolkata on Friday. The arrest on charges of destruction of evidence, criminal conspiracy, and forcing someone to act against their will came four days after chief minister Suvendu Adhikari ordered an inquiry, they said. Three TMC leaders, including Ghosh, were named in the case that was subsequently filed. TMC leader Kunal Ghosh said Nirmal Ghosh should be punished if he is guilty of anything.
