Silchar, May 3 -- A 63-year-old woman was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Assam's Goalpara district early Saturday after the animal entered a residential area, forest officials said. The deceased was identified as Saraswati Shil, a resident of Milonpara village under Rakhasini Jhar Part-I area. Officials said the incident took place at around 3.30 am when the elephant strayed into the locality.
