E-way crash kills 3 IIT-B students
NAVI MUMBAI, March 20 -- Three students from IIT-Bombay, who had gone to Lonavala to catch the sunrise, met with a fatal accident on their way back on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Thursday morning.
The friends, travelling in a Volkswagen Polo, rammed into a container truck while trying to overtake it near the Bhatan tunnel on the expressway around 8.35 am. The impact was so severe that the car flipped multiple times and was reduced to a mangled heap.
The three deceased were identified as Omkumar Nitin Borse, 23, a resident of Malegaon; Shreyansh Naresh Sharma, 20, from Jaipur; and Lay Prashant Deshbhratar, 21, from Nagpur. According to the police, Borse was driving the car.
Police said the three were part of a group of six students of the institute travelling in three Volkswagen cars. The other three students, who were in two separate cars, were not involved in the crash. P3...
