MUMBAI, July 23 -- In order to track student protesters across the city, Mumbai police are demanding that they share live locations with them, and some are even turning up at their homes to pressure them to stay away from the agitation. While police called the electronic surveillance a "positive" deterrent, lawyers HT spoke to said that the move violated the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Information Technology Act (IT Act). However, this did not deter around 2,500 youth, students and activists who filled the narrow lanes near Shivaji Park in Dadar on day five of the agitation.
