Badlapur, June 22 -- Two people were killed and another sustained critical injuries after the speeding luxury car they were travelling in crashed on the under-construction stretch of the Mumbai-Vadodara highway in Badlapur on Sunday. Police said that the car was travelling at a speed of 251 kmph when it crashed. The trio were returning home after celebrating a birthday when the BMW Z-series convertible, travelling with its roof retracted, slammed into a highway divider. The car flipped multiple times, throwing the occupants from the vehicle, they added. Kishore Shinde, senior police inspector of Badlapur West police station, said the stretch where the accident occurred was still under construction and had not been opened to traffic.
