New Delhi, July 12 -- A US federal judge has ordered Gautam Adani to submit a sworn affidavit by July 15 stating whether he was "aware of any agreement exchanging anything for the dismissal" of bribery and securities fraud charges against him, escalating a standoff between the court and the Department of Justice over the case's abrupt closure. An Adani spokesperson did not respond with a comment at the time of going to print. In a July 8 order, US District Judge Nicholas Garaufis - who had earlier called the Justice Department's dismissal motion "terse, bland and conclusory" - said the court needed to satisfy itself that no quid pro quo existed.
