MUMBAI, Aug. 2 -- Maharashtra became the 13th Indian state to notify an anti-conversion law, with the controversial Maharashtra Freedom of Religion Act coming into force after the state government published the legislation in its official gazette on July 30. The gazette was published after the legislation was approved by President Droupadi Murmu on July 17, paving the way for its implementation.
