15k in Bihar sent notices over lack of valid identity papers
New Delhi, Sept. 10 -- Authorities have sent notices to at least 15,000 people in Bihar, who allegedly failed to produce valid proof of identity and residence and against whom complaints were received that their Indian citizenship was suspect, election officials in Patna and Delhi said on Tuesday. The notices urge such individuals to produce original copies of the documents submitted by them as proof of their identity before designated election officials.
"During verification of the documents submitted by you, certain discrepancies have been observed, creating reasonable doubt about your eligibility to be registered as a voter in this assembly constituency," the notice in Hindi says. P9...
