Youth electrocuted, couple booked for murder
PRAYAGRAJ, March 6 -- A 22 year old man was electrocuted to death on Wednesday evening in Gopalpur village under the Raniganj police station area after being allegedly lured to a neighbour's house on the pretext of playing Holi. The victim's father has lodged a murder case against a couple, and police have detained the husband.
According to police, Priyanshu Yadav (22), son of Hiralal Yadav, was called to the house of Rajesh Saroj alias Rajababu around 5 pm on Holi. Rajababu had reportedly quarrelled with his wife earlier in the evening. While Priyanshu was inside the house, he suffered a fatal electric shock.
A neighbour, Kanhaiya Saroj, rushed to the spot and also sustained burn injuries while attempting to pull Priyanshu away from the live electric source. He was admitted to the Raniganj Trauma Centre for treatment. SHO of Raniganj police station Prabhat Singh reached the spot with additional police force, assured the family of prompt action, and sent the body for post mortem.
Acting on a complaint filed by the deceased's father, police registered a murder case against Rajesh alias Rajababu and his wife. Rajababu was later taken into custody. The SHO said further action will be taken after the postmortem report is received. Meanwhile, tension prevailed in Gopalpur village on Thursday evening after the body of Priyanshu Yadav, who died by electrocution on Wednesday, reached home. The grieving family refused to perform the last rites and staged a protest,and demanded Rs 20 lakh ex gratia, a government job for Priyanshu's brother and bulldozer action against the accused couple. Cops held several rounds of talks but the relatives did not agree to proceed with the funeral until their demands were met. The standoff continued late into the night. htc...
