Youth conclave pays tribute to unsung freedom heroes
Agra, Oct. 2 -- The three-day National Youth Conclave 2026, organised at the Cultural Education Centre (CEC) of Aligarh Muslim University, paid tribute to Shaheed Baji Rout and other unsung heroes of India's freedom struggle.
Organised in association with the ICSSR and the Odisha Research Centre, the conclave was held on the theme "Decolonizing History, Inspiring Youth for Nation Building".
The 12-year-old Odisha boatman Baji Rout, who was killed during the freedom movement, served as an inspiration for discussions on the contribution of ordinary citizens, particularly young people, to the national movement.
The programme featured essay writing, a quiz, nukkad natak, cultural performances and a panel discussion on "Decolonization of Indian History". The concluding session at Kennedy Auditorium featured the quiz finale, theatre performances and presentations by AMU's music clubs.
