LUCKNOW, Aug. 5 -- Women must become architects of the rural economy, not just the backbone of families. This was highlighted by speakers at the sixth edition of the 'India Rural Colloquy' - Uttar Pradesh Chapter at the Social Work department of Lucknow University on Tuesday. The programme was organised under the theme: 'Women as Architects of Rural Well-Being: Leading Resilient Communities to Shared Prosperity'. Organised by Transform Rural India (TRI), the conference saw participation from several policymakers, thought leaders, and grassroots representatives, who shared insights on key themes such as youth entrepreneurship, resilient livelihoods, women-led FPOs, and the transformation of rural markets. Water conservationist Umashankar Pandey said every transformation in the country has come from ordinary people coming together, not from a few powerful individuals. Rajeev Tripathi, associate director, TRI said that rural transformation starts when women stop being just the backbone of the family unit and start becoming the architects of the rural economy. Sarveshwar Shukla, joint commissioner, MSME & Export Promotion, said the CM Yuva scheme has empowered nearly 2 lakh youth to start enterprises and create jobs.
