Meerut, Oct. 31 -- Police in Amroha's Hasanpur area have arrested a man for killing his lover after she allegedly demanded Rs.3 lakh from him. The accused, identified as Mohd Salim, confessed to the crime during questioning. Police have recovered the knife used in the murder along with other evidence. According to superintendent of police Amit Kumar Anand, Salim, a resident of Mohalla Kot Purvi Maniharan in Hasanpur, killed the woman after she repeatedly demanded money and threatened to lodge a complaint when he refused to pay. On Tuesday morning, locals found the woman's body in a vacant plot near Teesra Mill on the Hasanpur-Rahara road. Her throat had been slit. A case was registered following a complaint by her husband, and police began an investigation with help from Special Operations Group and surveillance teams. Salim, who sold clothes at a local market, was arrested on Wednesday. During interrogation, he admitted that he was in a relationship with the woman for about eight months.
