Woman dies after jumping off lucknow rly bridge: Cops
LUCKNOW, April 23 -- A woman aged 25-30 years died after allegedly jumping off the Husadiya railway bridge in the Gomti Nagar Extension area on Wednesday evening, said police.
Passersby alerted the police around 6pm after spotting a woman lying injured on the road beneath the bridge, according to officials from Gomti Nagar Vistar police station.
"A police team reached the spot promptly and rushed the injured woman, estimated to be between 25 and 30 years of age, to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences in Vibhuti Khand. However, doctors declared her dead on arrival," said a police statement.
"Preliminary inquiry suggests that the woman was walking on the bridge from the Husadiya crossing side before she suddenly jumped," said SHO (Gomti Nagar Vistar) Sudheer Awasthi. So far, it looks like a suicide as she was seen walking alone in the CCTV footage, he added. Identity of the deceased was yet to be ascertained, official added....
