Bahraich, July 24 -- The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) on Thursday arrested a wanted operative of the banned organisation 'Waris Punjab De' and detained a US citizen attempting to enter India illegally from Nepal. The operation was conducted at the Rupaidiha Border Outpost within the jurisdiction of the Rupaidiha station. The primary accused, Vikramjit Singh, a resident of Punjab's Rupnagar district, was wanted in connection with the 2023 attack on the Ajnala police station. Investigators revealed that Singh had been evading arrest by residing in Nepal under a fake identity and utilising forged documents, said Dilip Kumar, the acting commandant and deputy commandant. During the same operation, security personnel detained Manveer Singh Dhillon, a US citizen originally from Moga, Punjab, for allegedly attempting to enter India without a valid visa. His wife, Rylene Alexander Dhillon, also a US citizen, and their eight-month-old daughter possessed valid travel documents and visas and were permitted to enter India through legal immigration channels. Additionally, the SSB arrested three local facilitators and have been identified as Suresh Kumar Pathak, Dilip Upadhyay and the driver, Rahul Kumar. Rupaidiha SHO Ramesh Singh Rawat told Hindustan Times that the five arrested individuals are being jointly interrogated by the SSB, local police, IB and immigration authorities to identify other members of the network and uncover potential cross-border links....
