VARANASI, July 18 -- The Varanasi Nagar Nigam got 17th position among all 4,589 bodies in the country in the ranking of Swachh Survey 2024 announced by the Union ministry of urban affairs on Thursday. In addition, the city stood second in the Ganga Town Award with Prayagraj being in the first place. In 2024 too, Varanasi city got the 17th position. In the Swachh Survey 2024, Varanasi's city card issued by the government of India, got 98% marks on door-to-door garbage collection, 63% in garbage separation (source segregation), 100% in garbage collection and disposal, 100% in garbage dumping ground disposal, 100% on cleanliness in residential areas, 100% on cleanliness in markets, 100% in water reservoir cleaning, 93% on cleanliness of public and community toilets, said Srivastava. This time the Swachh Survey was done in two phases according to the cities, in which the cities which are already doing better in cleanliness were separated, which was named "Super Swachh League City", and the second survey was done of those cities which are trying to do better in cleanliness. Indore city has got first place in "Super Swachh League City". Varanasi city was included in the league of improving in cleanliness.
