LUCKNOW, July 31 -- A special POCSO court in Varanasi has sentenced Ravi Kumar Patel to life imprisonment for sexually abusing a child. Patel was convicted of multiple offences, including rape, aggravated penetrative sexual assault and using a child for pornographic purposes. The court also imposed a fine of Rs.2.75 lakh for offences under the Indian Penal Code, POCSO Act, and the Information Technology Act, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said in a statement Thursday. The CBI registered the case in June 2022 following allegations that child sexual abuse material was being collected, transmitted, and published electronically. During the investigation, the agency discovered that Patel had also committed aggravated penetrative sexual assault against a minor, who was subsequently rescued.
